The objective of this course is to enable Health & Safety Committee members to become actively involved in the operation of their workplace health and safety committee and in developing and implementing occupational health & safety systems.

Course Content:
- Understand key duties within the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004 and its practical relevance;
- Identify and apply key risk management principles;
- Identify the role of the Health & Safety Committee in implementing and improving workplace health and safety and developing OHS management systems;
- Identify the characteristics of an effective Health & Safety Committee and the actions their workplace Committee can take to ensure an active role in implementing & improving workplace health & safety;
- Use case studies and workplace scenarios to examine the role of the Health & Safety Committee in managing workplace hazards & dealing with issues;
- Analyse issues dealt with by Committee members to identify successful strategies and other avenues for issue resolution; and
- Participate in their workplace Health & Safety Committee through practical group activities.
- This course is interactive and designed on the basis of adult learning principles. The program uses case studies, DVDs and group work activities to assist the learning process.
